George Bernard Shaw
TLS to Messrs. Dodd, Mead & Co., 10th September,
1934.
Shaw expresses his skepticism about the economics of a book club
edition and his horror at the ideas of a 'school edition' of Three
Masters of the English Drama.
Shaw continues his objections to a 'school edition' on the other
side:
"...I will not have my books prefaced or annotated or
meddled with in any way by other hands than my own; ...I will not
have my name detested and my plays avoided by young Americans as the
name of Shakespear and his plays are now detested and
avoided..."

George Bernard Shaw
TLS to Messrs. Dodd, Mead & Co., 28th September,
1948.
Shaw complains about the difficulties his publisher is creating
for him by attempting to simultaneously publish Sixteen Self
Sketches in England and America. He concludes:
"There is no hurry: go to bed and take it easy until you get
the final complete copy with the illustrations in their proper
places. And dont (sic) write to me again until Xmas at the
earliest."
