Photograph of one of the side gates of Brown University’s Van Wickle Gates, looking down College Street. The gates were built with a bequest from Augustus Stout Van Wickle, Class of 1876, and dedicated June 18, 1901. |  | Manning Chapel at Sunset
Manning Chapel was built in 1834, thanks to the generosity of John Nicholas Brown and named for President Manning. The building was home to the University Library on the first floor and a chapel on the second. In 1878, the Library relocated to Robinson Hall. After 1894, religious services were moved to Sayles Hall until Manning Hall was rededicated at Manning Chapel in 1959. The photo also shows the adjacent University Hall.
