EARTHLAB -- Brown's primary remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS) facility; includes 10 Sun workstations, digitizer and large-format plotter; co-sponsored by the Department of Geological Sciences and the Center for Environmental Studies. The EARTH Lab provides students, faculty, and staff with a facility for learning and applying remote sensing and GIS technologies to all disciplines.

Affiliated Research Center (ARC) -- The ARC program is designed to provide partnerships between industry & Brown an opportunity to explore use of remote sensing technologies with geographic information systems (GIS), and global positioning systems (GPS) technologies on a low-risk (no exchange of funds) basis. NASA's ARC initiative is designed to increase the competitiveness of U.S. companies by allowing them to explore the potential of spatial technologies.
