The History of Special Collections at Brown University

John Hay Library. (Built 1908 - 1910)

In 1906 Andrew Carnegie gave $150,000 to the University for the construction of a new library building to be named for his friend, John Hay.  This view of the Reading Room was photographed in the 1940's.
