STAFF APPOINTMENTS:
Pamela Pollard was appointed Manager of Media Services, effective August 21. Ms. Pollard has a B.S. in Fine Arts and Afro-American Studies and an M.S. in Instructional Systems Technology, both from Indiana University. Before coming to Brown, she was the Director, Library/Learning Resource Center, Belmont Technical College, Ohio, and prior to that she was Director of the Learning Resources Center/Media Consultant at the University of Michigan, Flint.
Margherita Cappelli transferred to the Library as Coordinator of the Friends of the Library, effective September 1. Ms. Cappelli has a B.A. in Theatre/English from Rhode Island College. She has been at Brown since 1992 in the Office of Alumni Relations where she had considerable responsibility for reunions, class newsletters, and the planning of numerous related events.
Joan Thompson was appointed Information Delivery Services Librarian in the Reference Department, effective October 4. Ms. Thompson has a B.A. in History from Southwestern University and a M.L.I.S. in Library Science from the University of Texas. Before coming to Brown, she worked in the Inter-Library Service unit at the University of Texas, Austin.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
At the start of the Fall '95 semester, the Library entered into an agreement with Graphic Services to provide both photocopy and microform services for administrative and patron use. A total of sixteen Oce copiers with booksavers and nine Minolta microform reader/printers were installed at the Rockefeller, Sciences, John Hay, and Orwig libraries. These new machines may be used with the University's new One Card system, eliminating the need for using cash to make copies, though some machines will still take money. Direct departmental billing can also be accommodated by furnishing Graphic Services with an IPR, and a Copy Limit Card may be used at any of the machines. Contact Graphic Services at x1548 or the Library staff for questions or information.
