STAFF APPOINTMENTS:
Mary-Jo Kline was appointed Curator, Special Collections, John Hay Library,
effective April 1, 1996. She will be responsible for development and management
of holdings in Special Collections pertaining primarily to U.S. history,
including collections in political, diplomatic, business, commercial, social,
educational, and intellectual history, and pre-20th century imprints in
a variety of fields. Ms. Kline has an M.A. in History from Columbia University,
an M.L.S. from Catholic University of America, and a PhD. in American History
from Columbia. Most recently she was employed in the American Memory Office
of the Library of Congress. For several years prior to that, she was the
"Americana" expert for rare books and manuscripts at Sotheby's,
New York. She also has extensive experience as a documentary editor, having
worked in various capacities on the Papers of George Washington, the Adams
Family, and Aaron Burr.
Gavin Ferriby was appointed Editor of the Consortium of Rhode Island
Academic and Research Libraries' (CRIARL) Union List of Serials, effective
May 20, 1996. He will be responsible for managing the transfer of the CRIARL
Union List records to Innovative Interfaces, Inc. software. Mr. Ferriby
has a B.A. from Hope College, and M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary,
an M.S. in Library Science from Columbia University, and an S.T.M. from
Drew University. Before coming to Brown, Mr. Ferriby served as Theological
Cataloguer at Drew University and Cataloguing Associate at the Firestone
Library, Princeton University. This one-year temporary position has been
funded by CRIARL.
