Bases de Datos del CSIC          
Created by the Center for Scientific Information and Documentation (CINDOC) for the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in Spain, the Bases de Datos del CSIC contains three databases that index Spanish journals and conference papers.

  • ISOC - 1975-present; contains seventeen subdatabases in the social sciences and humanities.

  • ICYT - 1979-present; contains ten subdatabases on science and technology.

  • IME - 1971-present; biomedicine.

Note: The search engine is not sensitive to accents and diacritics other than the tilde in the letter ñ. The letter n alone cannot act as a replacement. In such cases replace ñ with the truncation symbol *, or copy and paste this letter from a word processing program.

Bibliografía de la Literatura Española desde 1980          
1980-present; a resource for scholars of Spanish literature, Bibliografía de la Literatura Española provides bibliographic information on a wide range of subject areas including literary theory, literary genres, popular literature, Hispanism, bibliographies and authors.      

CARINDEX—index of West Indian journals
"CARINDEX is an index to the contents of West Indian journals, published in the Caribbean region. It also includes theses, papers presented at conferences, collections of working papers, etc. CARINDEX is published in two parts. CARSAH covers publications in the social sciences and humanities from 1983 onwards. CARSCI covers publications in science and technology from 1960 onwards."

Chicano Database                
1960-present; the Chicano Database identifies all types of material on Mexican-American topics and about Chicanos, providing extensive coverage from the 1960s to the present, with selective coverage dating back to the early 1900s. Also includes the broader Latino experience, including Puerto Ricans, Cuban Americans, and Central American immigrants.

Citas Latinoamericanas en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades, CLASE
"CLASE es una base de datos bibliográfica creada en 1975 en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). La base de datos se actualiza diariamente y más de 10 mil registros son agregados cada año. Ofrece alrededor de 250 mil registros bibliográficos de artículos, ensayos, reseñas de libro, revisiones bibliográficas, notas breves, editoriales, biografías, entrevistas, estadísticas y otros documentos publicados en cerca de 1 500 revistas de América Latina y el Caribe, especializadas en ciencias sociales y humanidades."

Handbook of Latin American Studies (HLAS)
1935-present; An annual bibliography prepared by a group of scholars and published under the auspices of the Library of Congress. It lists new publications under broad subject headings, and includes annotations. [This resource is publicly available.]

Hispanic American Periodical Index (HAPI)          
1970-present; HAPI is an online source for information about Central and South America, Mexico, the Caribbean basin, the United States-Mexico border region, and Hispanics in the United States. Included are complete bibliographic citations to articles, book reviews, documents, original literary works, and other materials appearing in over 400 key scholarly social science and humanities journals published worldwide.      

INFO-LATINOAMERICA: Latin American Information System      * * *          
1988-present; a source for information on Latin America compiled from over 1,500 leading international (mostly non-us media) newspapers, journals, news magazines, newsletters, television and radio broadcasts, conference proceedings, and more. Many records since 1995 include full text or links to full-text on the Internet.

Latin American Database          
1986-present; LADB produces three weekly electronic publications (Sourcemex, NotiCen, and NotiSur) and maintains an on-line searchable data base of over 24,000 articles (from back issues of LADB publications) as well as Latin American journals.

Film Literature Index (FLI Online)
1976-2001; the Film Literature Index (FLI) annually indexes 150 film and television periodicals from 30 countries cover-to-cover and 200 other periodicals selectively for articles on film and television. Current; said to be the world's largest full-text, online database, containing more than a billion full-text articles, citation abstracts, and documents. Emphasis is on current news and legal and business information.      

Project Muse      * * *          
Project Muse is a searchable database that provides access to the full text of journals published by Johns Hopkins University Press and other university presses in the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics. Consult the online tables of contents for holdings, as coverage varies for each title. As of 6/2004, includes links to JSTOR.

ProQuest Dissertations and Theses      * * *          
1861-present; covers almost every doctoral dissertation completed at accredited institutions in the U.S. This version of Dissertation Abstracts includes 24-page thumbnails of every dissertation since 1997, as well as the full text of all Brown University dissertations since 1997.    

Social Sciences Citation Index      * * *
