The Contemplative Academy Conference

The Contemplative Academy conference will be held at Amherst College on September 24-26, 2010. Over the last dozen years educators across disciplines and administrators and have increasingly included a range of contemplative practices in their teaching, research and work with students.

The conference is sponsored by the Association for Contemplative Mind in Higher Education, which is affiliated with the Center for Contemplative Mind. The conference will explore the special role that contemplative practices can play in cultivating those capacities of attention, equanimity, wisdom and compassion that are central to the lives of students and those who work with them.

Through contributed papers, poster sessions, and artistic presentations, as well as plenary talks and contemplative practice sessions, the conference will offer a full representation of the ways contemplation can serve higher education. Educators will have the opportunity to explore how to integrate these practices across the campus and how they can help students and one another develop greater mindfulness, open heartedness and insight.
