Minutes

Tuesday, February 10, 2004

PRESENT: William Beeman, Michel-Andre Bossy, Mary Anne Doane, James Egan, Anne Fausto-Sterling (Chair) Sean Ling, Michael Rosen, Deborah Cohen.

Professor Anne Fausto-Sterling opened the meeting at 3:09 p.m. Minutes of 1/27/04 FEC meeting were approved as submitted.

Professor Fausto-Sterling gave a brief Chair’s report. The FEC officers met with President Simmons and discussed the ad hoc Transportation Committee’s work on transportation issues. Because the ad hoc Committee is still working on several parking options at this time, it was suggested they withdraw their request to meet with the FEC until a later date.

Most of the FEC meeting was devoted to discussing the ballot election nominations for AY 2004-05 including the Academic Priorities Committee, Faculty Affairs Committee, Subcommittee on Diversity in Hiring, and the Tenure, Promotions and Appointments Committee. The FEC nominated several faculty for the various slots on the ballots and were assigned individuals to contact either by e-mail or by phone. The FEC will continue the discussion at their next meeting.

The Chair then called the meeting into Executive Session at 4:00 p.m.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
