Vartan Gregorian Holds Scientific Mini-Conference
On June 17th, 2009 at Vartan Gregorian Elementary School, ten Brown University professors and graduate students will participate in what for them will seem like a fairly normal activity – a scientific conference. For the students at Vartan Gregorian, however, this day will certainly be out of the ordinary.
Beginning with a keynote address in the school auditorium, the conference will be held in all of the 3rd-6th grade classrooms. The students will rotate from room to room, visiting three scientific talks of their choosing. For Vartan Gregorian, this conference will be the capstone of the Graduates in K-12 education 2008-2009 partnership with Brown University, made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
