Grace Harriet Macurdy

An American classicist who was educated at Radcliff (1888) and earned her Ph.D. at Columbia University (1903), was on the Vassar faculty for 44 years, beginning in 1893. Her main scholarly interest was in the lives of ancient women, their political and social influence, evinced by several of her books. The last years of her life were dedicated to war relief efforts in Greece and Britain.
