Classical archaeologist, born in Cincinnati Ohio. As a student at the University of Cincinnati, she participated in 1928 in their excavations at Prosymna under Blegen. In 1931 she received a BArch. (in architecture), and from '32-'38 joined the Trojan Expedition. Following WW2, the Cincinnati staff resumed publication of Troy, with Marion responsible for editing, organizing illustrative material and writing part of the text. In. 1953-64 Rawson joined the Cincinnati Expedition to Pylos and the Palace of Nestor. She was rewarded an honorary degree from her university and the Marion Rawson Professorship of Aegean Prehistory was established to honor her contribution to Bronze Age archaeology.
