Next Generation Sequencing Sample Submission Guidelines

I. Sample Requirements

Sample Submission Form

As of March 2011, the Genomics Core Facility has expanded service to offer sequencing on both an Illumina GAIIx and HiSeq 2000 instruments. We are accepting libraries prepared by the user for ChIP-seq, mRNA-seq, or genomic DNA seq.

  • Please provide the libraries to us at 10 nM concentration in 10mM Tris-Cl, pH 8.5.
  • Please submit ≥10 uL so we have enough volume to run on the bioanalyzer, do a KAPA qPCR run and denature for sequencing.
  • Submit samples in 1.5 mL tubes, labeled clearly with submission date and sample identity as described in "Instructions for naming Sample" below.
  • Include sample submission form with your samples (see "Sample Submission Form" link at the right). Email the completed PDF document to the Genomics Core Director at Christoph_Schorl@brown.edu and please submit a hard copy with your samples.
  • Call the Core facility at 401-863-2875 to arrange drop off of your libraries.

We are located at the Laboratories for Molecular Medicine, 70 Ship Street, first floor, room 109.

II. Instructions for Naming Your Samples

  1. Please name samples with a 3 letter and 4 digit number identity For example: Joe DiMaggio is JDM0001 (if you are a new users), or: John G. Bloak is JGB0001.
  2. Please write the date on the sample tube and use 1.5 ml tubes.
  3. If a sample is returned to you because it did not pass quality control, and you re-submit the 'improved' sample, please continue the sample numbering i.e. re-purified JGB0001 would now become JGB0002. Please do not duplicate sample numbers. It is the users' responsibility to record original sample identification, i.e. know that JGB0001 is your 'untreated' sample. The updated sample submission form has an optional column where you can record your original sample ID.
  4. If you have submitted samples to the Core for sequencing in the past, continue using sequentially numbered samples, i.e. JB0132 was the last sample submitted, the next sample submitted would be JGB0133.
  5. If you re-submit a sample please provide a new submission form with the updated concentration.
