The following teaching activities can but used with a range of Choices curriculum units.

Lessons to Integrate Geography and Map Skills

Many of our curricula contain lessons that explore the connections of physical and human geography to historical and current events. These lessons emphasize both basic map reading skills and higher order thinking.

Lessons that Build Data Analysis Skills

Many of our curricula contain lessons that use data of varying types to analyze events and trends. These lessons emphasize both basic chart and graph reading skills and higher order thinking.

Considering the Role of Values in Public Policy

This activity can be used as an introduction to any of the curriculum units developed by The Choices Program. It is particularly useful for units addressing current topics or any of those in Teaching with the News.

Deliberating "Pros" and "Cons" of Policy Options

Using this activity, students practice deliberative dialog in a small group as they consider the merits and the trade-offs of the Options in a Choices unit. It is designed for use with Choices Current Issues units.
