Automobiles are one of the most significant of greenhouse gases emitters, and of fossil fuel consumption. In recent years, the average fuel economy of a vehicle in the United States has decreased, and Americans have continued along a trend of purchasing larger, less fuel efficient vehicles.
Given this there is a greater push and desire in certain sectors to move toward utilizing alternative, hybrid or electric, cars to both satisfy the American desire for personal mobility and the environmental and common sense ethic of utilizing less gasoline and emitting fewer greenhouse gases.
