Question #5:  Beam Me Up, Buddy

It is known that every year, 20% of the total vehicle miles traveled were from people commuting too and from work. People commuting in their cars from South County to Providence or from Providence to Boston , all contribute to the greenhouse gas concentrations of Rhode Island. What if a certain population of Rhode Islanders were able to begin telecommuting, that is, doing some or all their work from their home with the use of telephone, fax machine and computer.  What would be the result, in terms of MTCE, if the number of miles driven by commuters was reduced by 5%? How many fewer miles per year would be driven?
