In order to determine whether the results of my survey are a useful representation of American Nursery and Landscapers Assocation members, I asked whether my respondents were member of ANLA (Q23). While I used the ANLA database as the source of my email addresses, there was still the possibility that non-members received the email as a forward.

8 (10%) non-ANLA members replied to my survey. One non-member received the email because it was forwarded to them by a member, the other 7 directly received the survey because they were the contact for a nursery association included in the ANLA database, but not a member themselves. 69/77 (90%) of my respondents were ANLA members.

I followed this question up with a question (Q24) asking what they thought of ANLA’s representation of their interests in order to discern whether the respondents would respect programs promoted by ANLA.

Two non-members responded to this follow-up question (Q24), both choosing “3”. One was a former member of ANLA.

58/69 (84%) agreed that ANLA acts with their interest in mind; 22/69 (32%) members strongly agreed. 10/69 (14%) fell in the middle. No members strongly disagreed, while the only member-respondent who chose “4” (disagree) was a manager, not an owner, of their business. The high level of satisfaction with ANLA indicates a strong likelihood that ANLA promoted programs will be well-respected by their members.
