BOLT needs your help!

Thank you so much for supporting your favorite organization! Alumni donations are as critical as ever to the success of BOLT.

Along with the support from the Endowment Fund yield each year, BOLT depends $7,500 from donors for "current use" to cover financial assistance for student participation and an additional $5,000 to cover the funding gap that exists in our operating budget, which is not filled through participant and leader fees.

Our graduating leaders are working on an initiative to raise $1,000 for our "current use" fund to support the financial aid needs of the current leader class for Wilderness First Aid and First Responder national certification tuition costs..

The program could not continue without your support. Thank you!

The BOLT Endowment Fund has a book value of $211,115. We were able to This provides an annual yield of on average of 5% to contribute to our operating costs in a permanent way. (The actual percentage that we yield from year to year is based on a three year average of the fluctuating market.)

Your support so far this year 2009-2010 between Oct-May, has provided 159 gifts equaling $9,072 for our “endowment” fund!! We are truly grateful to our alums and parents for their support in our efforts to secure BOLT's future at Brown. In this challenging financial times, your support is more critical than ever.

Our initial goal for the endowment is $500,000! Until we are able to fully cover our operating costs including the part-time salary of the director position, the program can be cut for funding and staffing support by the University, which would close down our program (and they've tried it in the past!).

The program has survived on the strength of its impact on past leaders, BOLTers and parents, and we hope that it will continue to do so for a long time.
