Leader Application Process Information

Three (3) components together form the basis for our selection process for BOLT Leaders.

The BOLT application is one major part of the BOLT application process. It is weighed strongly along with a personal interview that will be conducted at a later point. Letters of Recommendation also assist us in our decision making process.

Your Application is due January 15, 2010

You will receive a link to the application upon submitting your contact information. We extend this process into January to offer applicants more time on the essays without losing our ability to recruit while we all are on campus.

This deadline is a fixed deadline. Please, do not be late. We are trying to be fair to all. The application will become inactive by the morning of January 16th. Don't miss out.

We also encourage you to review the leader position description, the spring training calendar and information about a BOLT leader interview all located on the Leader page. Be sure that the training schedule and expectations for leaders aligns with your plans for the semester and your fall.

For questions and any other concerns contact the BOLT managers. Also contact the us if you have submitted an application and haven't heard back from us by Dec 10th.

Your Recommendation is due January 15, 2010

Some helpful areas for us to hear include:

  • Leadership (no surprise here)
  • Team work and ability to contribute to positive group dynamics
  • Working within diverse groups for teamwork, group facilitation and leadership
  • Communication Skills
  • Problem Solving Abilities
  • Conflict Management Skills
  • Time Commitments and Leader Expectation

or emailed to BOLT@brown.edu

If we do not have the letter prior to the completion of the application and interview process, we will not be able to consider your application. Please remind your recommenders of the deadline 5-7 days prior to assist them with tracking on your request.

Your Interview will be scheduled at the end January or the first week of February, 2010

We allow every applicant an opportunity to meet with two current BOLT Leaders to ask questions about the program and to discuss their application, interest, abilities and skills for a leader position.

We recommend that you preview the information available our website about the program and about the interview. Our site offers a great deal of information regarding our history, philosophy, values, training commitments and the overall program calendar that can help you with considering a leader position within the program.

If you have any further questions about the application process, please feel free to contact the BOLT managers.
