August 27, 2002 Last night we fell asleep to the sound of falling rain on our tarp, but by morning it was surprisingly sunny and the skies had cleared. Today we reached the top of Mt. Pierce, or at least, what we thought was the top of Pierce. The clouds were amazing and quite speedy. Basically every time you looked up today you were amazed. It was a great day! |

30, 1999 It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Trail started incredibly muddy and then got rocky and step. We got up to the Lake in the Clouds, hung around to see the views, and headed back. I figure we lost the trail 4 times yesterday but we kept trekking and didn't lose any time… The point of interest today was when we tried to stage a revolution. Dean Targan foiled our plans with his backwoods KungFu. Afterwards he fled like Superman from Kryptonite. Viva la revolution! |

31, 1999 How challenging was our route today? I fell down. Matt fell down. Travis fell down. Omar fell down. Everyone was hoping Josh would take a spill, but the boy has balance and balance does not fail. So I'd say so-so. Some falling. Much sweating. |

29, 2000 Our route today was challenging in so many ways: physical, mental, and emotional tensions arose as we slowly edged down towards the valley…But following the example our BOLT leaders have set for us, the seven of us weary and strained hikers pushed onwards towards redemption! |

28, 1999 Were there wildlife encounters or problems? A bear wrestled Stephen. They were both good sports when we declared a tie. But later Stephen honed his sardonic wit on the bear's mother. |
August
30, 2002 We hiked during the day…until about 2:00 when we decided to play cards. |
