Student Groups & Brown Dining

Spread the Word with Tableslips

Tableslips are a fundamental part of the dining experience at Brown. Eating at the Ratty and V-Dub provides not just a great meal but also the inside track about what's going on around campus.

Reserving a Room at the Sharpe Refectory

Dining Room #6 Reservation Contract. This room is provided for the private dining use of University and Student Groups on a reservation basis. Bring the contract to the Brown Dining main office at the Thayer Street side of the Sharpe Refectory to find out the availability of reservation times and additional meeting services for the room. All persons entering the private dining room space MUST use meal credits, cash, flex points, declining balance and/or host meal tickets. If the event is being catered, a roster must be provided to the Catering Office to ensure proper billing.
Use of the room is restricted to Refectory operation hours – 7:30am to 7:30pm. The space can hold a maximum of 30 people. Tables and chairs cannot be added or removed from Dining Room #6.
Chancellor’s Dining Room, Chancellor’s Annex and President’s Dining Room all require reservations through the Catering Office and incur a fee to the party involved. Catering would be able to provide specific details on capacity and room set up for each room.

Reserving a Table at the Entrance of the Sharpe Refectory

Table Reservation Contract. Tables directly inside the Sharpe Refectory’s Main Dining Room are provided for the use of University and Student Groups on a reservation basis. Bring this contract to the Brown Dining main office at the Thayer Street side of the Sharpe Refectory to find out the availability of reservation times.

Fundraising Opportunities: Group Staffing

The Group Staffing program is an excellent opportunity for student groups to earn money by working shifts at the Gate on Friday and Saturday nights, or working concessions at home football games.

Groups typically earn up to $160 collectively per shift for their group, and are eligible to book multiple nights throughout the semester. To be eligible for Group Staffing, your group must be able to provide 6 students. All students must be approved to work on campus by Brown's Human Resources department.

If your group is interested in participating in the Group Staffing program, or if you have any questions, please contact the Group Staffing Coordinator, Victor Chang, at buds_groupstaffing@brown.edu.

Please also feel free to also check out our list of open shifts HERE.

Meal Credit Donations & Donation Boxes

Brown Dining receives donation and fundraising requests for a number of good causes. While we are unable to support general requests for meal credit donations, we partner annually with a select student group or organization, (typically one involved with hunger or homelessness) to coordinate one scheduled credit donation dinner event. Watch for that! Brown Dining supports numerous requests for non-cash donation collections in our dining facilities. For more information, call 863-3343. We regret that we are unable to support requests for cash donation collection boxes in our units.
