About us

Health Education is part of Health Services. We facilitate interactive workshops, offer individual counseling and referrals, and coordinate special events on a wide range of health topics. Topic areas include nutrition, alcohol and other drug use, safer sex, sexually transmitted infections, stress management and general wellness.

  • We facilitate workshops on a variety of health topics or we can offer resources for you to plan your own workshop.
  • We collaborate on several health awareness events like World AIDS Day, Love Your Body Day, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and others.
  • We counsel students who have concerns about alcohol and other drugs, eating disorders, or sexual health questions.
  • We have a variety of condoms and dental dams that students can purchase.
  • We have a library of health books, brochures, videos, and printed materials that are available for you to check out.


How to request a program
Health Education is dedicated to facilitating interactive workshops that provide accurate health information in a non-judgmental and inclusive way. We can tailor presentations to best meet the needs of your group. You can request a program by contacting the health educator listed under each topic or calling us at 401.863-2794.

Sexual Assault and Dating Violence
I’ll Only Tell a Friend: The Best Ways to Help Someone Who’s Been Hurt by Sexual Assault
A friend is the most likely person that someone will turn to if they have been sexually assaulted. Come learn what helps, what doesn’t and what a big difference you can make in your friend’s life. This workshop can be adapted for abusive relationships.

Understanding Abuse
This interactive presentation can help you understand the range of abusive behaviors--including emotional abuse and financial abuse--and see how victims become trapped.

Sex Jeopardy
Think you’re a sexpert? Looking to learn more about safer sex? This competitive game provides you with information on contraception and STI protection that will help you make healthy choices.

Sexual Health Bingo
This isn’t Grandma’s bingo! This bingo game provides a fun way to learn more about safer sex, STIs, and contraception.

Intimacy and Me
This workshop discusses what influences sexual decision making, explores communication styles, and helps you discover what sexual choices are right for you.

Sex and the MTV Culture
We’re bombarded with sexualized images in the media and often the message is, “the less you care about sex, the more powerful you are.” We will discuss the emotional aspects of sexuality and what healthy sexuality could really look like.

Burp
Receive stress-relieving neck rubs from Brown University Relaxation Project. Request burp by filling out the form on our website.

StressLESS
This workshop offers an opportunity to discover the “bad” and “good” stressors in your life, provide insight into how you deal with them, and get tips for working with that stress.

De-Stress at Your Desk
Simple stretches, breathing techniques and posture corrections to relieve stress and avoid repetitive stress injuries.
