HEALTH ED AT YOUR SERVICE

How to make an appointment

Brown students can make appointments for confidential consultations with Health Education staff on a range of health issues. All Health Education services are available at no charge to Brown students.

For privacy purposes, since e-mail is not a secure form of communication, when e-mailing to request an appointment, avoid including any personal medical information. Simply include your phone number, the type of appointment you would like to set up, and dates and times you are available and we will be in touch to schedule your appointment.

Nutrition

One-time and on-going confidential appointments are available with the Health Education dietitian, Anne Buffington, RD, CSSD. Nutrition appointments focus on improving health by maintaining balance, variety and moderation with food intake. Anne specializes in nutrition counseling for students who struggle with disordered eating and eating disorders and is Board Certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) to assist student-athletes with implementing nutrition strategies to maximize performance.

The best way to schedule an appointment with the dietitian is to call the Health Education office at 401.863-2794. Alternatively, you can e-mail the Health Education Administrative Assistant (Suzanne_Soprano@brown.edu). When e-mailing, please include your phone number and days and times when you would like to try to schedule your appointment. To protect your privacy, since e-mail is not a secure form of communication, avoid including any personal medical information in your e-mail.

You can also visit our nutrition section for information on healthy eating, eating concerns, and more.

Alcohol

Brown students can make confidential appointments to discuss alcohol or drug use with a health educator. These appointments are available to students both as self-referrals and for students referred by a provider or advisor or as the result of an EMS call.

Call 401-863-2794 or e-mail the Health Education Administrative Assistant (Suzanne_Soprano@brown.edu) to schedule an appointment with a Health Educator.
