Prospective StudentsDo you have questions or concerns about being a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, gender queer or same-gender loving student at Brown? Feel free to contact us to discuss your individual questions or concerns. Brown generally has a very LGBTQ friendly environment. We also have a non-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. If at any time you experience any type of harassment or discrimination there are support systems in place to address bias incidents. You can report a bias incident to Brown Public Safety (Brown police), to the Office of Student Life or to the LGBTQ Resource Center. For more information about our bias incident response please contact the Coordinator of the LGBTQ Resource Center. Resources for Trans/Gender Queer/Gender Variant StudentsThe Brown Residential Life and Housing system has gender neutral housing options for any upper-class students who choose this as an option regardless of their gender identity or expression. Any student who is interested in this option can make a selection during the housing lottery. We currently do not have a gender neutral housing policy for incoming first-year students but any student who has concerns about their housing options should contact the Office of Residential Life and Housing for information about their options. Our Residential Life and Housing Department is very willing to work with you to find an option that works for you. You are also welcome to contact the LGBTQ Resource Center if you'd like to discuss any questions you may have. If you have questions about transitioning gender while enrolled at Brown the LGBTQ Resource Center can assist you. We work with students to help them navigate the different systems across campus to make your transition go more smoothly. Please contact us for more information. We have several gender neutral bathrooms available across campus. We have provided a list to assist you in finding one. The list is relatively complete but because of construction projects happening across campus it may not be 100% accurate. If you find an error or omission please feel free to contact us to make a correction.
