1. More Discussion about the New Proposed Lottery System:

PROS:
- makes system more fair
- students' perception of lottery is that it is fairer
- student with a bad number in one segment of the lottery may end up with a good number in a different segment
- will make it more difficult to try and "beat the system" and will encourage students to live with their friends and not people who happen to have good numbers

CONS:
- will make the overall process more stressful due to changing numbers
- uncertainty involved in not having a permanent number could also create more stress
- could potentially hurt those students who just get shut out of a certain segment

2. The Council decided that it would be a good idea to get some student feedback
about the proposed change before making a final decision.
- Ross will e-mail each member of Res Council with a list of names and phone numbers of current sophomores and juniors (program houses included).
- Please call as many of those people as possible and ask what they think about the proposed change in the lottery.
- E-mail responses and comments to Ross by next Tuesday.

3. Next Meeting: Tuesday, Oct. 19th at noon in South Wayland Lounge.

Meeting adjourned - 12:50 P.M.
