Present: Steve Baker, Michael Blitstein, Samuel Gorstein, James Katz, Sanders Kleinfeld, Jennifer Kraemer, Ross Lipsky, Andrew Lom, Casey Marks, Leah Scherzer, Mario Sturla, Avital Wenger, Charles Williamson,

Absent: Andrew Dupuy, Andrew Golodny

1. Committee Reports
a. Lottery - Third Segment of the Lottery on 3/21, lots of unjustified e-mails regarding number re-randomization. Also e-mails suggesting weighting lottery averages based on previous year's housing and previous segment numbers
b. More meetings on Emery-Wooley Morris-Champlin renovations. Next one on Monday, April 2 (after spring break) to try out chairs.
c. nothing to report

2. New Business
a. Motion to require all program houses to send Res. Council copies of all advertisements for program house events (tableslips, posters, etc) so that we can be sure they are doing the activities they say they are (Vote: 11-0-0)
b. Continuation of discussion regarding the lofting of beds. General consensus that the lofting of beds, in allowing for better utilization of dorm room space, is an issue that is very important to students. Discussion of possibly providing students with the option to loft beds in all dorms (not just Perkins). Discussion of allowing students to go through a University-certified outside contractor to provide a lofting service. Discussion of logistical concerns in having both loftable and non-loftable beds available for 4400 on-campus residents. Discussion of safety and liability concerns associated with lofting.
c. East Asian House discussion - Having only nine members officially signed up for East Asian House (one of whom doesn't count because he/she is also signed up for Harambee House), East Asian House fails to meet the minimum requirement of 10 members needed for program house existence. Dean Desrochers contacted East Asian House to inform them that they should enter Segment III of the lottery. Program House Liaison (Sam) contacted East Asian House President Michelle Nguyen to come to the 3/20 meeting to speak in defense of the house. No representation from East Asian House attended the meeting.
As East Asian House didn't show up, was two members short of meeting program house guidelines, and sponsored few (if any) activities for the Brown Community, motion was made to disband East Asian House (Vote: 8-0-4). Motion passed 2/3 majority.
Plantations House suggested to be offered as a 16-person sophomore-only cluster.

3. Next meeting - Tuesday April 3 at noon in South Wayland Lounge

Meeting adjourned at 12:50pm.
