Residential Council Minutes :: May 3, 2004

Members present: Jesse Goodman; Joshua Troy; Chris Guhin; Pamela Dubyak; Alexander Merkler; Brookes Brown; Brendan Hargreaves; Olanma Okoji; Adam Deitch

Members absent: Jonathan Marcus; Allison Shaw; Victor Long; Ada McElroy

Lottery: Really: it’s done, guys.

Policy: Nothing.

Program House: We had Spring Review last week.

U.C.S. is sending out confirmation emails for Res. Council appointments very soon.

Next meeting is for old and new members. Elections will be held. Food will be served.

Spring Review: Art House, great; Interfaith House, great; Tech House, explained membership problems and will keep size smaller in future; Harambee House, fine but misunderstood the third principle; DPhi seems like it’s okay, but their representative knew very little: problems were discussed; DTau’s membership has been dropping and they were made aware of problems. Art House, Interfaith House, Tech House, and Harambee House were all approved (9-0-0). DPhi was passed, with concern if there is any University sanction (9-0-0).
The Delta Tau situation was discussed. Many want to see them have to meet all requirements fully in the Fall, and, with too few members in the Spring, they would be disbanded. Brooks and Pam are not sure that she is willing to give them that long a chance. Josh makes it quite clear that we need to either give them an option or tell them that they are dead. Dean Forsberg makes clear that the Council traditionally serves as an advocate and should try to remain so. Chris motions that Josh talk to the house about the need to hit their membership numbers and fulfill all other program house guidelines.
