Residential Council Minutes :: October 11, 2005

Present: Benjamin Boas, Kyle Evans, Justin Glavis-Bloom, Brendan Hargreaves, Tal Itzkovich, Jimmy Kaplowitz, Jennifer Kuo, Allison Kwong, Katherine Lamm, Michael Morgenstern, David Pacheco, Laura Supkoff

Absent: Adam Axler, Damian Maldonado

  1. Meeting begins at 12:05 PM
  2. Chad Mank from Reslife is here
  3. Katie sent out card access proposal, results from survey on special interest housing, ~15-20 responses
    1. responses were either vehemently for the housing, vehemently upset about being in the housing, or neutral
    2. those who really cared about the houses did not feel quiet and substance-free could be mixed
    3. we will discuss placing people pre-lottery
    4. Freshman substance-free is in Perkins--more than an entire Perkins floor
    5. Chad: ResLife wants to do survey on subst-free and 21+ housing
    6. it sucks when people who dont want to be there have to abide by the rules
    7. some people picked substance free for singles
  4. we will send out a short survey through ResLife
    1. include semester level, gender
    2. whether they want to be there (or if parents forced it)
  5. all in favor preliminarily of pre-lottery
  6. Lottery meeting this Sunday
  7. Program House waiting to meet with Bova and on guidelines
  8. summer storage
    1. do we want to fight this battle now?
    2. space is there and there is issue of liability
    3. university doesn't want to assume risk
    4. we should push for better vouchers, work with UCS
    5. it was taken away because two summers ago, a lot of things got ruined and there was mold and they had to be burned, reslife had to reimburse students
    6. place UCS picked was very expensive, they shouldgive more--ask UCS to consider program houses
    7. place restrictions on miles away you live
