Part I: Job Description
In the spirit of TWTP and our beloved Third World Center, the roles and responsibilities of the MPC Friend position continue to evolve. However, we feel certain that there are a number of qualifications that remain the same. MPC Friends must have the motivation and commitment to serve, support and lead the Third World community at Brown.
We are looking for sensitive, thoughtful and strong individuals—individuals willing to respectfully challenge themselves and others on complicated issues in an effort to create a more conscious and unified community.
As an MPC Friend, you will be an integral part of TWTP and the academic year that follows. Among other responsibilities, an MPC Friend will:
-
Create a strong support network for the MPCs and affiliated members of Brown’s community
-
Serve on committees related to empowering the Third World community (example: TWTP Remix Committee)
-
Plan presentations for Unity Days with fellow MPC Friends (we are looking for fresh, new ideas for Unity Days that contemporize many issues students do and will face)
-
Attend, advertise and support TWC convocations
-
Assist the TWC staff
-
Attend monthly small group meetings
In keeping with last years amendments to the program, we envision more student leadership and hands-on activity during TWTP. As a result, we are looking for individuals who are willing to keep the energy and spirit of TWTP going throughout the year.
