Memories

What TWTP Means to Us:

"These past few days have provided me with an invaluable opportunity to learn about myself, my values, and others. It has provided me with the strength to continue fighting for equality and justice. It has opened the depths of my soul to its true pain, strength and weaknesses. This experience will remain with me forever. I am so grateful for the support and acceptance in this Third World community. I feel now I have a greater understanding of where I've been, where I am and where I am going."

"I had not only a great time meeting people, but also had an equally good time getting to know peopleâs thought process. I was empowered by being in a room with smart, confident and self-assured minorities for the first time in my life."

"I had a great time. I was reluctant to come at first, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it!"

"I really felt like this workshop has been a pivotal moment in my life. I will no longer look at people and judge them based on things that are not indicators of their true nature. I want to applaud your efforts and give my heartfelt thanks for letting me rediscover myself."

"I found the program to be extremely beneficial and the beginning of a lifelong process of discovery."

"This program has inspired me to develop my consciousness and has opened a whole new world of learning. I feel better prepared for Brown and life and the future. In the future, I want to help. I want to show others what you all have shown me."

"I was apprehensive at first in attending TWTP. But now... at the end... I am so glad that I came. I guess "glad" is not a strong enough word. Thank you for affording me this opportunity to grown and learn!"

"As an Asian immigrant, I lived my life before Brown in America treasuring every moment and took oppression for granted and believed it was something to be accepted. I was told repeatedly that I was already lucky to be in this country. This program opened my eyes as to how ignorant I was and made me realize oppression is a problem that needs to be attended to by everyone."

"The experience I had at TWTP gave me a greater faith in trust, and a sense of community which I had never felt before."

"TWTP served as an excellent weekend for incoming freshman at Brown. I was just given a taste of the fascinating new world which Brown will prove to be."

"I only have one word: WOW!"

"I am so grateful to have been a part of TWTP. If I had not participated, a crucial introduction to my Brown experience would have been skipped. I gave me a real sense of community with fellow participants and all students of color."

"I thought the program was absolutely amazing and worth every minute... The speakers, MPCs and Friends really challenged and stimulated us. I have felt the positive benefits of having gone to TWTP everyday I've been here! I definitely recommend it."

"TWTP was an enjoyable and necessary experience amidst all the diversity of the members of the Third World community."

"I found TWTP to be an extremely valuable program."

"Where to begin... At TWTP we laughed, we cried, we were solemn, we were boisterous, angry, embarrassed, comfortable, we were, and that is a bond strong as ever. Those few days brought me to a comfortable level of pushing myself and others, using each other as support and consequently becoming - from using."

"I don't know if I will be exposed to such an environment again. TWTP was intensity of I have never seen. I miss it. Thank you for letting me be."

"Finally, I had the chance to discuss things with people who understood how I felt and some who did not. Thank you for this gift!!!"
