WiSE Medical Mission

The WiSE Medical Component is the product of the collaboration between WiSE and the Division of Biology and Medicine. The Wise Medical Component seeks to inform and to inspire young women to consider career opportunities in medicine through interactions with faculty in the Division of Biology and Medicine and in Brown affiliated hospitals.

The goals of the WiSE Medical Component are threefold:

1. To increase awareness of the full spectrum of opportunities that exist in clinical sciences, medicine and public health.
2. To encourage women including members of underrepresented groups to consider careers in academic medicine using research experiences.
3. To foster a sense of community among participants using common experiences and shared interest in medicine

Events organized to pursue these goals are run for the most part by Ashley Pender, Medical Component Coordinator.
