ACLU Minutes 11-3-2004

Debate Review
-went well, good turnout
-not much ACLU turnout
-some off-color comments from Republican debater

Busted!
-not much ACLU turnout
-otherwise went well

Film Festival
-E-board decided to postpone it till next semester because we could not get any good locations.
-Will try to book Soloman 001
-At next meeting we need to decide a date so we can book it

Speaker
-We will try to get David Cole for next semester

Future Plans
-write an editorial on disenfranchisement in election or Patriot Act (Tristan has written an article by himself)
-memberships---apparently they cost $20. we would like to have them discounted to attract new members
-we talked about finding an issue to focus on, something less vague than civil liberties
-maybe we could put posters up outlining the Patriot Act
-also setting up a table/banner in Faunce

Sidenote: Tuesday November 9th there is a lecture on "Civil Liberties in Wartime" in MacMillan.
-we felt stilted that we were not included
-Mike will try to get in touch to see if we can help out/co-sponsor
