After some brief introductions, we got down to business
Conference at Harvard: Fri/Sat Feb 18-19.
-Mike and Tristan are going. There is room for three more,
email Tristan if you want to go. Everything should be paid for either by
the Brown ACLU or Harvard.
Film Festival
Still on for Feb 15, 16 and 17 in Salomon and Carmichael
Mike has been working on a poster, will finish by the end of the week so we
can start putting them up by Monday or so
Decided on Black and White over color for price issues (it would be a 60
cent difference)
Mike will work on slogan
>br>Tristan will buy a banner hopefully to be hung up on Faunce
We will need help with table-slipping when the time comes.
Ella will coordinate scheduling of that.
BFS is being unhelpful, but they.ll send an email to their listserv which
is a nice gesture
Tristan will talk to Dems about sending to their server
David Cole
$3000 honorarium-will seek to get financial help from RIACLU,
Dems, Pre-Law, before we ask Lecture Board.
When the time comes, we will organize a forum around his speech
Need to figure out time for him to come
Brown Police
We want to focus on arming of Brown Police
No need to oppose it, just enlighten the Brown community on
what their rights are when it comes to guns and what they can expect in
terms of the officers. training and instructions
Maybe have an open forum where Police rep would explain their
policy then open the floor to questions
Maybe get someone from TWC to come as well
Tristan may write an editorial to be published either before
or after this event
We have not set a date as of yet
Random
Gay Marriage/lobbying eventike forwarded info from the dems
to the entire list serv
Interest in creating a blog on ACLU related issues to inform
the Brown Community of civil liberties issues and a watchdog on Bush
Admin.. Maybe The Daily Squeal as a possibility.
Change in meeting format. One large meeting on the first of
every month inviting everyone on list serv. Then e-board meetings in ACLU
room in Faunce 301 the other three Wednesdays. Those meetings will be open
to the public as well.
