Email Announcements
The Brown Film Society has an E-mail subscription list in which we notify subscribers upcoming BFS movies, events, and showtimes. Subscribe or unsubscribe yourself from the list by going here.
Scheduling
The Brown Film Society usually shows films two nights a week for ten weeks each semester. Every week has a different theme (i.e. specific genre such as film noir or specific director.) Our usual schedule is: Friday @ 8PM: Film A Friday @ 11PM: Film B Saturday @ 8PM: Film B Saturday @ 11PM: Film A
Location
Unless otherwise specified, all films are shown in Carmichael Auditorium in Hunter Laboratory 89 Waterman Street (the building between the P.O. and the Greenhouse). The auditorium is straight in front of the entrance to the building.
If the listing says: Main Green, then the film will be shown on the Main Green in front of Wilson Hall on a really big sheet.
If the listing says: Sayles Hall, Alumnae Hall, Salomon Hall, or Sheila Blumstein's Bedroom, then the film will be shown in that location.
Pricing
Unless stated otherwise, all screenings are free!
Membership
Any Brown student may join the Brown Film Society. Advantages: Free films, free food, and the power to decide what films will be shown. If you really love films, you'll save a lot of ca$h. Disadvantages: You have to spend about 2 hours a week helping us by either a) projecting a screening, b) postering around campus, c) tableslipping the Ratty or V-Dub. But think of the films! The power! The camraderie!
Other Policies
Food Technically a no-no, but keep it clean and we'll look the other way. Once in a while, we also like to defy this rule of thumb and hold special event screenings with free food provided. These events will always be advertised, so keep an eye out for this, gluttonous students! Film Nominations: Anyone, I repeat, anyone is welcome to make suggestions. Just write down (or type up) the name(s) of the film(s), director(s), actor(s/ess(es)), year(s), and any other info that would help us locate the film. Then send it to us. Find out officers all of the different ways to reach us nowadays, and use the most convenient method.
