| Brown University Lion Dance
Description: Lion Dance is a traditional Chinese cultural dance where two people mimic a lion's behavior inside of a lion. Traditionally, it is meant to scare away evil spirits and bring good luck. In addition to the lions, we also have drums, cymbals, and a gong accompanying the lion. Currently, we are blending together martial arts elements into our performances. While only a few people will be in a head at one time, we are all taught the same things so that no one person is stuck doing a certain role.
Time Commitment: In terms of commitment, there will be 2 practices per week for about 1.5-2 hours each. We normally have performances on Fridays or Saturdays, which take up a couple of hours.
How To Get Involved: Email Andrew_Kuo@brown.edu or liondance@brown.edu for more information, or just check one of the many sites about us online, and our practice will be posted there eventually
