The Rock, named for its chief benefactor John D. Rockefeller, Jr., was completed in 1964 and serves as Brown's principal humanities and social sciences library. Home to three million of Brown's more than 6 million volumes, the Rock is an open stack library with a snack bar and several computer clusters and study spaces. The campus-wide card catalog, "Josiah," can be accessed from any computer on and off campus.
