"Mammalian Neuroencodrine Physiology" is a course designed to impart understanding of the neuroendocrine system and its contribution to homeostasis. Background required includes good knowledge of neuroanatomy and physiology. Introductory neuroscience course such as Neuro 1, 92, and 93 are strongly recommended.
The class was led by professors Kile and Bereiter. Students found Professor Kile to be a bit disorganized and hard to follow as he sometimes switched subjects without warning. Respondents expressed that Professor Bereiter made more of an effort at integrating the information taught in class as Professor Kile tended to present things in a list form to memorize. Overall, the students found the instructors to be well-informed about the subject matter.
The grading scheme included two midterm which counted 30% each and a final which was worth 40%. People reported spending anywhere from three to ten hours a week on this class. One complain that virtually everyone had concerned the textbook. It was described as "unhelpful" and "awful".
Most respondents were satisfied with this course as they had a desire to learn about the subject matter. Many found the material to be intriguing and worthy of devoting time and effort to. After all, it is an upper division neuro course that is by no means easy, but at same time it is a rewarding experience for those who take it with the right attitude and put in the work.
