'First Year Arabic' is the second semester continuation of Arabic 10. It is a course designed to teach students the basics on how to read, speak and write formal Arabic. The prerequisite for enrollment in this class is AB 10.
Professor Elverskog received wonderful reviews from her students. Respondents felt that she was sensitive to her students' level of understanding, and she was always willing to help when students asked for it. Her teaching style was extremely effective; she presented her material clearly and in an organized fashion. The professor was also commended for her enthusiasm for the subject. One student even commented, 'She is the best language teacher ever at Brown!'
Students put in a significant amount of time and effort into the class. The workload consisted of daily homework assignments, frequent quizzes and tests, and an oral presentation. Respondents stated that although the exams themselves were not very difficult, studying for them certainly was because it required so much memorizing.
Respondents were very glad to have taken this course with Professor Elverskog. They recommend this class to anyone who wishes to learn Arabic with a great instructor.
