'Emergency Medical Systems: An Anatomy of Critical Performance' focuses on the problems and issues concerning Emergency Care in the United States. Topics include the cost of care, the responsibility of payment, as well as the effect of alcohol on injury and malpractice. Other than a genuine interest in the material, there are no prerequisites for this course
Professor Becker received great reviews. He was considered humorous, energetic and charismatic. He had a vast amount of knowledge and effectively communicated it to the audience through videos, multimedia presentations, stories and of course lectures. He facilitated many guest lectures which were hailed as a great success by almost all respondents. In short, respondents praised Professor Becker's teaching abilities.
Students put in a moderate amount of effort, spending three to four hours on average outside of class. They completed weekly papers, a midterm paper and a final project. Respondents found the weekly papers relatively light but spent a lot of time on the midterm and final. Many enjoyed the on-site visits incorporated in the course and found the assigned reading very interesting.
In conclusion, students were motivated by the material covered in this course and highly recommend it to anyone interested in medicine. The reading is awesome and so are the lectures. So if you decide to take this class you will most certainly have an enjoyable experience. Better yet if you want to become a doctor.
