"Principles of Physiology" gives students an understanding of the basic physiology and anatomy of the human body. Bio 20, or its equivalent, is the only prerequisite for this course, though any basic knowledge of anatomy would be beneficial.
Professors Zimmerman was the official instructor of the course, but there were also many guest professors who lectured about specific physiological systems. Even with a variety of lecturers and a huge amount of material to cover, the class was well-organized. Lectures were clear, handouts were provided for each class, and professors were receptive to students' questions.
Reviewers spent between two and ten hours each week on this course outside of class, a number that increased right before an exam. The professors used three midterm exams, four labs, and one final to evaluate students" progress. They allowed students to drop their lowest midterm grade, which was greatly appreciated.
Overall, students were happy with this course because they felt they had learned a lot about human physiology and anatomy. However, this seems to be a popular course for pre-meds, and many found that this made the atmosphere more competitive than in their other classes. This course seems to be a lot of work, but definitely worth the effort if you are interested in the subject material.
