Do you want to learn more about the Dead Sea Scrolls and the history surrounding them? If so, then the material of "Qumran and the Dead Sea Scrolls" with Professor Galor should prove of interest. In this class, students study the current theories regarding the Qumran and the Scrolls, the history of the area, its archeology, and its possible inhabitants. This course has no prerequisites, though knowledge of archeology and Jewish culture is helpful.
Professor Galor received rave reviews in all respects. Students found her lecturing style to be knowledgeable, clear, personable, funny, and very accommodating. Reviewers also noted that Professor Galor did an excellent job in provoking group discussion and allowed the students breaks during the two and a half hour course.
Students in the class were assigned optional readings and were expected to complete a single ten to fifteen page paper, along with a ten-minute class presentation. Respondents spent an average of two hours per week on class work, more during weeks when presentations were assigned.
