"Introduction to Modeling" with Professor Su is an introductory course in the Applied Math department where the general goal is to learn how to define problems and understand their solutions. In particular, an important part of this course was learning and understanding MATLAB. Although there are no prerequisites for this course, some students felt that some knowledge of computer science would be helpful when approaching it.

Overall, survey respondents seemed to be very happy with Professor Su. They generally felt that the lectures were good. Students happily noted that he was very receptive to their needs and their level of understanding. In addition, students enjoyed the lectures and felt that Professor Su was an effective teacher.

The work load of this class consisted of a number of lab projects whose completion time varied between students. The level of difficulty of this course depended on the student. One survey respondent indicated that the labs could have used some refinement.

Students seemed to enjoy the course. For some, it only required about three hours of work per week, although one student indicated that he spent upwards of ten hours per week on the assignments. Summing it up, this class is a good choice for someone interested in the subject matter.
