If you're looking to learn how to apply methods of linear programming to various situations, "Operations Research: Deterministic Methods" may be the right class for you. When approaching this class, basic math skills are a good thing to have. In addition, some students felt that some knowledge of linear algebra and matrix operations would be helpful.

When describing the instructor, the survey respondents generally praised him for being a good teacher. His lectures were clear and to the point, although some commented that they could be a little dry at times. In addition, he always took students' needs into account. However, a few students felt that the lectures went a little too fast at certain points.

Most students felt the textbook was pretty helpful, although some thought going to the lectures was sufficient. As far as the course requirements go, there were two midterms, a final exam, and of course, a weekly homework set.

Overall, students were pretty happy with having taken this class. The workload wasn't too bad, with most students spending between two and six hours per week on class work (although one students spent up to eight hours per week). If you're looking for a good course in the Applied Math department with an effective professor, "Operations Research: Deterministic Models" may be for you.
