Professor Bienenstock's "Statistical Analysis of Time Series" is a class that's main focus is on time series, most importantly their analysis. Officially, the prerequisite for this course is Applied Math 165, although some students felt that a good math background and MATLAB experience would be helpful when taking this course.

Professor Bienenstock was generally considered to be a good teacher. Most students liked his use of laptop computer examples during classes. Also, respondents commented that he was always nice and willing to help them out when they needed it. In addition, he listened to students' suggestions and acted upon those suggestions.

The work for this course consisted of four homework assignments and a final project. All of these assignments were considered to be useful and effective. As some may be delighted to hear, this class had no exams.

Regarding the time commitment, students spent anywhere from one to twelve hours per week on this class, although most spent between four and six. Students' expectations were met in that respect. In conclusion, survey respondents recommend this class, particularly for those interested in the material, as is the case for most Applied Math classes, with its effective professor.
