One of the reasons Professor Joukowsky teaches "Archaeology of Iran" is that it is little known and underutilized. Don't be intimidated by the people who may have taken similar classes before; this is a course designed for anyone and everyone to enjoy.

Students were impressed by Professor Joukowsky's efforts to accommodate a variety of different learning styles. However, some students noted that in the second half of the course, student presentations deprived them of the benefit of her expertise. The greatest source of dissatisfaction was her use of slides: some felt they were too extensive, while others thought they were not adequately covered in class. On the whole, respondents described Professor Joukowsky as an inspiring teacher who accommodated their needs and used her TAs very effectively.

People raved about the course packet, which Professor Joukowsky wrote herself: 'Martha's Magic Guide'. They declared all other readings unnecessary, and often desert-dry to boot. The written work was heavy but evenly spread over the course of the semester: three two-page papers, a longer paper, an in-class presentation (which some thought should have had a time limit), two in-class exams and a final take-home exam.

Unfortunately, this course is not being offered next year, so if you are interested in this enthusiastic professor and unusual topic, keep your eyes peeled for it in the future.
