The Lambda Iota chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on March 30, 1974 by ten undergraduate women attending Brown University. These women are:
Since our inception, the Lambda Iota chapter has initiated over 100 women pledged to serious endeavor and public service. Lambda Iota is, and continues to be, a citywide chapter encompassing the entire state of Rhode Island, making Lambda Iota a divers and challenging experience with a bright past and a direct future.
