Newsletter of the Lambda Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma
Theta Sorority, Incorporated
Volume 8, Issue 6, September 2001
As
yet another school year begins, the Ladies of the Lambda Iota Chapter of Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. would like to welcome everyone back to Providence
with wishes for a good year academically, socially, and spiritually.
For entering
freshmen, the college experience is often a shock because, on one hand, you
will probably have more time than you did when you were in high school, but on
the other hand, it becomes very difficult to manage your time effectively. It
is all to easy to become caught up in partying, hanging out with your friends,
or even just sleeping. Or you may swing to another extreme by living in the
school library or computer lab or hiding in your room not having any kind of
social life whatsoever.
While your primary focus should be studying
and maintaining good grades, also remember that college life should be a
well-rounded experience by learning not only in the classroom, but through your
social interactions and your extracurricular activities.
There
are many resources available to students who need to learn time management
skills or how to study more effectively. By using these, you will be better
able to maintain a balance between school and other activities while having
some free time for yourself.
As a
public service sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority prides on its numerous
contributions to others on a national and local level. The Lambda Iota chapter
sponsors a variety of service projects. For more information or to get
involved, please contact Lauren Clark at (401) 274-8487 or Claudine Compas at
