Jeff Reingold, GSC-President

• GCB:
The GCB Meeting went very well. It was with Michael Plater (dean of the grad school), David Greene (vp admin), Susan Yund (gcb manager), Walter Hudson (vp student life) and Chris Harswood (pres of GCB). The school wanted to know what the Graduate Students thought of the GCB. I explained how important the GCB is to each student and department. It was also noted that grad students like the location of the GCB. This meeting came about due to a neighbors complaint and several changes have been made to alleviate the problems (removal of dumpsters next to their house, change of exit and entrance of the bar). We did decide to create a point person that is in charge of fielding the questions, if questions arise about the GCB. The person was not selected yet...
• Grad Rep Position:
I would like to reiterate the importance of the Grad rep position. I have to speak for all grad students and it is the grad rep job to voice the opinions of their respective department and then I use that, for example at the GCB meeting. Informal survey of what grad reps do after they leave this meeting and how they spread the information they heard to their departments.
• Online Minutes & Minutiæ:
The minutes should be checked online once it is [basically] a waste of paper to print them out for the meetings.
• Ivy Summit @ UPenn:
This past weekend John and myself attended the IVY Summit at UPenn. This is a gathering of all the ivy league institutions and a brainstorming and collaborative conference consisting of several discussion groups. We will be creating a webpage for the ivy council and we will be making up report cards for each ivy school to see how each ranks above the other. At the meeting, we made some connections with the Yale reps and are in the process of setting up and inter ivy mixer at Yale. More details to come.
• Travel Reimbursement Forms:
They are all on the Grad Student Council webpage. It is recommended that students pre apply for funding but it is not mandatory.

• Commencement Speaker: will be voted on the April meeting.

John Raiti, VP-Social

• Social Hours: the orders have not been properly filled in the past 2 socials; work is being done to remedy this situation;
• Spring Dance: 09Apr04, 21:00h to 01:00h;
• Commencement Champagne Toast: 27May04, GSL; time not yet decided; &
• Salsa Classes: Going very well! Resume on 11Mar04.

• Groups/Clubs funding or recognition: The GSC funds events open to the whole graduate population --- the SAO deals with this issue university-wise; &
