About Us

Leighton Bryan has forever been an avid fan of ancient mysteries and cryptically obscure tidbits of knowledge that overwhelm her many acquaintances. She was so overjoyed by an Egyptology major existing at Brown that she considered it paramount to the undergraduate experience and thus decided to apply to Brown. As of late, she is taking the much more esoteric approach of a Pre-Med track and Theatre major. Had Leighton's mother accepted the offer to be an undercover spy in the Secret Services, she would not have been born. Her name means "from the Meadows", even though she resides on a 1-mile wide island in Florida. She sometimes forgets how to spell her first name because she never uses it. She is ecstatic to be in the Keys, because she considers a capella a "naked music", and wholeheartedly promotes University sanctioning of such activities.

Emily, aka EMBO is thrilled to be jazzy/sexy/classy with The Higher Keys. As an avid musical theater performer, she has sky-high ambitions of waiting on the finest tables in NYC, living in a shoebox, playing gigs for minimal amounts of moolah. She has performed in various musicals here at Brown and throughout her childhood, where she learned the invaluable skills of singing, snapping, and jazz hands. Basically she loves to teach the Keys how to move it move it. Give us some moreo of that Choreo!!

Nick is a bass from Syosset, New York. He is so totally thrilled to be singing with the Keys that he occassionally explodes, after which his friends piece him back together using sticky tack and rubber bands. Nick also enjoys lots of sports, video games, and playing his tuba in the Brown Band. He's like, really really sexy.

Alex Bachorik is a soprano from Bethesda, Maryland who can confirm that Chevy Chase is, in fact, a real place. She plans to major in nothing of any practical use, except maybe saving the world, because she's pretty sure that Brown has a department for that. She enjoys all things French, red peacoats, and the Washington Metro system. Joining the group midyear and measuring up to an impressive five foot nothing, Alex is the definition of Baby Key.

Emma is a soprano from Urbana, Illinois, now living in Phoenix, Arizona. She is obssessed with all things green, old buildings, cherries, penguins, and the Higher Keys! The bane of her existence is squishy cheese. She wishes that her life was an ongoing Disney musical.

Josh hails from the peaceful city of Basking Ridge, NJ. An avid fan of music, playing sports, going to sleep late (and nonparallel sentence structure), he always gives 110% in whatever he does, particularly when he's doing nothing at all. He sports naturally puffy (or spiky) hair that has fascinated countless people, and perhaps it will you too. You may find it easier to call him by such nicknames as joshchu (one word), chu-chu, and joshu----a-chu! (bless you!)

Katelyn (not Caitlin, Kaitlyn, or Katlynn) is a soprano hailing from Greenwich, CT. Nutella, the color blue, and Ben Folds all sit atop her hierarchy of favorite things, although none can compare to her passionate love for Hugh Laurie. She’s very excited to be one of the Keys’ newest members, and looks forward to four great years.

Manjula hails from the coolest state in the union, New Jersey (her town happens to be very green and flowery, thank you very much). Known for her killer ability to spontaneously incorporate routines from High School Musical and/or Darrin's Dance Grooves into ordinary conversations, she is addicted to all things coffee-flavored. Manjula also enjoys playing with magnetic poetry, popping bubble wrap, and being a theater freak. She occasionally answers to the name "Jumanji". Very occasionally.

Kayla is an alto from the Greater Boston area who was raised by bearded folk musicians, Norah Jones, Sara Bareilles, Thelonius Monk, and her parents. Kayla thoroughly enjoys emoting through her voice and fingers via piano playing/singing/song-writing. She also dabbles in soccer, caffeine gives her headaches, she wouldn't mind living in the forests of Western America for an extended period of time, but while currently residing in the glorious city of Providence, she is a little too excited about being a Baby Key.
