QUIRKYALONE DAY

Sasha Cagen created a new so-called 'type' with a vengeance, that
is, the
Quirkyalone. After publishing her Quirkyalone article, Cagen's idea
was met
with overwhelming support from folks who also prefer good TV to
a bad date, and
are sociable but often have unsatisfiable standards when it comes
to romance
(for a more complete explanation, see her article). Naturally, the
opposite of
the quirkyalones are the 'perkytogethers,' who represent "the
tyranny of
coupledom" in a culture obsessed with Joe Millionaire and The
Bachelorette.
So
instead of hiding or gagging on miniature candy hearts this Valentine's
Day,
you can take solace in knowing that February 14th is now International
Quirkyalone Day, a non-Hallmark holiday of the highest DIY caliber.
With parties
from coast to coast, quirkyalones everywhere are getting together
and getting down. What do they do, exactly? Though no word yet,
stay tuned for info on a party right in our very own Providence.
